| My preferred choice would be crate training. It
allows peace of mind for both you and your new pet. Allowing your puppy
to find peace in his new home (his crate) they are able to escape the business
around them or if they just want to take time out and nap. Crate training, used only when necessary can be very beneficial. If you have a crate that will fit your puppy, great, but if not consider purchasing a crate that your fully grown Akita will fit into. Keeping an article inside the crate that your puppy find comforting will help your puppy find peace in his new environment and enable him to come to terms as to why they are there. In the beginning only confine your puppy for short periods of time and then gradually lengthening the times as days go by. Regular sessions will have your Akita feeling comfortable in his new found space. NEVER Crate in a negative way as your puppy will associate his crate as being negative punishment for wrong doing. Always leave the crate open when your puppy is
not in it, allowing him/her a chance to enter it in its own accord. |
