Our Story
Once upon a time,
The Tesch family being complete of `rugrats`, three of the little
buggers, and the eldest two Abi who is five and Josh who is three
being absolutely terrified of dogs.
The time had come; the master spoke “It is time to impregnate
me again Simon!” So being the dutiful husband I started
to draw Nikki's attention to a puppy.
It worked!!Her mind now elsewhere feverishly scouring the Internet
for puppies at every free moment afforded to her, gave myself
more energy and peace, for a little while….
Simon oh Simon” Nikki called, “ What about this cute
Chihuahua?”, seeing what looked like a half staved almost
drowned cat I screamed “You have got to be joking girl,
it doesn’t even look like a dog!”, so on she continued
scouring…
A week came and went looking at pictures and reading up on some
of the most favoured dogs, we were both thinking “This isn’t
to be, we just cant find a dog we both like”, whilst Nikki
kept looking longingly at the long staircase leading to the master
bedroom, I managed to keep her attention fully on the matter in
hand. (Sounds rude!).
Then all of a sudden Nikki finds a great website called findit
and comes across an advertisement for Akita puppies and the link
led us to www.dayamiakitas.co.uk seeing the amazing Akita pictures
on Suzanne’s website led us to research the breed, we were
hooked, this is the dog we wanted, this is the dog we wanted our
children to grow up not fearing and in turn learn to respect other
dogs.
Nikki emailed Suzanne enquiring if there were any puppies available
or planned, we received one back “No sorry, but I will keep
your email”, both disappointed we emailed several other
breeders, who I must say the majority of were helpful in pointing
us in the right direction if they didn’t have any pups,
but still to no avail, we couldn’t find a breeder in the
Uk with puppies available.
Then out of the blue an email arrived from Suzanne, she had two
puppies available, we got excited. We jumped at the chance to
own one of these beautiful creatures.
Suzanne then sent us pictures giving us a choice of which one
we would like to have, kind of hard choosing by pictures, by then,
their was no other choice other than a 2 hour round trip!
So we made our choice and Suzanne (bless her) kept us fully up
to date with his progress with regular pictures and information,
then the time had come our “Kuma” was to get a visit
from his new Mum and Dad.
It was a Saturday, we arrived at Suzanne’s house, (Nikki’s
co driving lleaves little to the imagination!) and we were welcomed
into Suzanne’s home and our first up close and personnel
meeting with a fully-grown Akita. Kosumo looked a fearsome dog
hanging over the baby gate from the kitchen, but you could see
in his eyes the inquisitiveness of him, a kind of gentle giant
but with an air of arrogance, my first thought was “What
a great looking dog”, Suzanne then showed us through to
the “run” (would have been good enough to have a five-a-side
football game in!!) to meet Kameika, Kuma’s mum, smaller
than Kosumo, but still with that “all knowing look”,
we recognised Kuma straight away had some cuddles and just sat
around the run with Kameika and her pups chatting to Suzanne.
We didn’t feel the need to “interrogate “ Suzanne
about how the pups where treated, where they lived, it was all
very obvious they where being introduced to this world with some
great feelings of love, surrounded by Suzanne’s own children,
allowed in the house, we just knew this was totally right for
us. We just asked Suzanne questions we had read up on for her
to clarify the answers about Akitas, Nikki and I both felt at
ease with Suzanne straight away.
When the time came to pick Kuma up it was exciting but to see
his surrogate Mum (Suzanne) get upset at letting another one of
her litter go left us with a feeling of guilty pleasure, a weird
feeling but I think one I can sum up by saying give up something
you love and respect for an almost total stranger.
Thank you Suzanne for introducing us to your family, we know we
bought a great Akita (with training lol) from a great breeder
and loving owner, I would recommend you to any of my family and
friends if they want to own what we own and cherish!!
